Val de Bagnes stretches from Le Châble up to Verbier and the 4 Vallées ski area, with the Mauvoisin dam higher up. Verbier is a major winter resort and a summer base for hiking and festivals. Martigny and Sion are about 30 to 60 minutes down the valley, and Geneva airport is roughly two hours away.
Second-home use is high, so many properties are empty off-season. Ask about management and rental restrictions.
Under Lex Koller, non-resident foreigners may buy holiday homes only in designated tourist areas and within cantonal quotas, and Valais enforces limits, so a resort property is not simply open to all. Quota availability, tax costs (cantonal transfer duty and notary fees) and commune rules vary; check with a Valais notary before paying a deposit.
See our Swiss buying guide and financing page, plus the mortgage calculator.
Martigny is the closest valley town in our list, Sion and Sierre are Rhône valley cities, Nendaz shares the 4 Vallées, and Crans-Montana and Monthey are separate markets. See Switzerland.
