Large homes are common: 84 listings have five or more bedrooms, 76 have four, 70 have three, 41 have two and 17 have one. The very wide range shows the gap between resale flats and new luxury chalets. See Swiss apartments, villas and penthouses.
Crans and Montana are two linked villages on a sunny plateau with views over the Alps, a golf course that hosts the Omega European Masters, and a ski area with glacier access at Plaine Morte. Sierre has the rail connection to the valley and a funicular and road climb up the hillside. Geneva airport is roughly two hours by road. The resort is busy in winter and summer, with a quiet shoulder season.
Switzerland restricts property purchases by non-residents under the Lex Koller law. Foreigners who live in Switzerland with a permanent residence permit usually buy freely for their own use. Non-resident foreigners may purchase a holiday home only in designated tourist areas and subject to cantonal quotas and a size limit, with permits required. Resale is restricted too. Take advice from a Valais notary or lawyer before signing. See the Switzerland consultation guide, financing page and Switzerland page.
