Commercial properties (22) are the largest category, ahead of villas (17), apartments (8), penthouses (3), land (2) and a single house. Only 14 listings carry bedroom counts, so the bedroom split is not reliable. The high commercial share is a data oddity worth noting: it is an unusual mix compared with other Spanish coastal pages. See the Spanish villa listings, apartments and commercial page.
Cartagena is a naval port with a Roman theatre, harbour front and an active cultural scene. The Region of Murcia's coast runs east to the Mar Menor lagoon and the La Manga strip, and the airports of Murcia and Alicante serve the area. Nearby in our list are La Manga del Mar Menor and San Pedro del Pinatar on the lagoon, and the regional capital Murcia inland. Further north in Alicante province are Pilar de la Horadada, Torrevieja and Orihuela, which are separate Costa Blanca markets, an hour or so by road.
Foreigners can buy freely in Spain, but need an NIE tax number and a Spanish bank account. On resale, the regional transfer tax (ITP) for Murcia is roughly 8%, though it changes, so verify. New builds pay 10% VAT plus stamp duty (AJD). Notary, registry and legal fees add around 1% to 2%. Spain's golden visa ended on 3 April 2025, so property no longer leads to residency.
