The town sits close to the A16 motorway and a rail station on the Breda line, which means Breda is about 15 km away and Rotterdam within an hour by road. It has a historic town centre, a small marina on the Mark river and open polder landscape. The Moerdijk industrial port and rail yards nearby create employment but also truck traffic.
The nearby-city links on this page are the country's larger cities; only Breda is close, while Tilburg and Den Bosch are 30 to 40 km away and Eindhoven further.
Foreigners may buy without restriction. The transfer tax is 2% on a home you will occupy, or 8% on any other residential property. The bidding process is competitive, so a mortgage clause and survey are important, and a notary arranges the final deed. If you plan to let the home, the 8% tax applies and local rental licensing can be strict.
Use the Netherlands buying guide, the financing page and the mortgage calculator.
A uniform stock makes asking price per square metre a reliable comparison tool.
