Princeton has a historic downtown, a golf course, a museum and the Tulameen and Similkameen rivers, and hiking and fishing in the surrounding mountains. It lies about an hour from Penticton, with Keremeos and the orchard-and-vineyard country to the south-east, and Hope is a longer drive west over the Hope-Princeton Highway. Mining and forestry have shaped the economy. Buyers are Lower Mainland and Okanagan retirees, remote workers and outdoors fans looking for larger lots. Winters bring snow, and wildfires and flooding have affected the valley, so check insurance and access.
Canada's foreign-buyer ban runs to 1 January 2027, and a replacement is reported. British Columbia adds a 20% foreign buyer tax in designated regions, so confirm if this area is covered. Rural lots may rely on wells and septic systems, and agricultural land has its own rules. Use a BC lawyer or notary for the purchase, and ask for a property disclosure statement. See the Canadian buying guide and financing page.
Princeton offers Okanagan-style scenery without the Okanagan price, but remote roads and wildfire insurance deserve a close look.
Keremeos, Penticton, Summerland, Peachland and Okanagan Falls are in the region, with Hope to the west. See the Canada overview.
