Studio City is a neighbourhood of Los Angeles on the Valley side of the Santa Monica Mountains, along Ventura Boulevard, with shops, restaurants and a farmers' market. It borders the film studios of Burbank and the Hollywood Hills, and the Metro B Line stops nearby at Universal City. Canyon streets climb towards Mulholland Drive. Close neighbours in our list are Sherman Oaks, Encino and Burbank, while West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica lie across the hills on the Westside, which is a different market. Entertainment-industry professionals and families make up much of the buyer pool.
California places no ban on foreign buyers. Property tax is about 1.1% to 1.3% of the price, plus any local assessments. Los Angeles levies documentary transfer taxes on sales, with an extra charge on very high-priced transactions; confirm current thresholds. Foreign-national lenders usually require 30% to 40% down, and a later sale triggers FIRPTA withholding. Hillside homes need a geologist's report, a check of retaining walls and fire-insurance quotes.
