El Campello is a fishing town turned seaside suburb, with a long sandy beach, a marina and a tram line (TRAM d'Alacant) connecting it to Alicante and Benidorm. That tram link is a real practical advantage: you can reach Alicante in roughly half an hour without a car. Alicante airport is close, which suits owners flying in from Northern Europe.
Buyers include year-round expats, Spanish families from Alicante and holiday-home owners.
Foreigners may buy freely in Spain, though the golden visa ended on 3 April 2025. Resale purchases pay ITP transfer tax (Valencian Community rate 9% from 1 June 2026, 11% above €1 million; verify locally), while new builds pay 10% VAT and stamp duty. Budget around 12-13% in total costs. Obtain an NIE number, check the nota simple for charges and ensure villas have a licence of first occupation, as unlicensed building is a known issue in the region.
See Spain overview, the buying guide and mortgage options.
Alicante is the city next door. Along the coast north are Villajoyosa, Benidorm, Finestrat, Alfaz del Pi and La Nucía, each with a different price and holiday-let profile.

Yes, there is a tram line to Alicante and Benidorm, and the airport is nearby.
No, that route closed on 3 April 2025. You can still buy freely as a foreigner.
Ask for the licencia de primera ocupación and check the nota simple for debts.
