Krupina is a small town in the hills of central Slovakia, in the Banská Bystrica Region, with an old market square and surrounding orchards and forest. Banská Štiavnica, a UNESCO-listed mining town, and Zvolen, a rail and industrial centre, are the main nearby towns. Jobs are limited, so buyers tend to be holiday-home seekers, renovators and remote workers. Budget for heating costs, since winters are cold.
Nearby markets on our list: Banská Štiavnica, Zvolen, Žarnovica, Žiar nad Hronom, Detva and Veľký Krtíš.
EU/EEA citizens can generally buy property in Slovakia; non-EU buyers may face limits on agricultural and forest land and are advised to check with a lawyer. Properties are registered in the cadastre (katastra), and a lawyer or notary usually holds funds in escrow. Check co-ownership, which is common with inherited houses.
