Land accounts for 47 listings, with 12 houses and 6 apartments. Because most listings are plots, price per m² and size can look unusual; judge each plot by zoning, access and snow load. Where bedroom counts are given, listings are spread across one to five-plus. See Japan land, apartments and houses.
Hanazono lies in the Niseko resort area of Hokkaido, known for deep powder, a growing summer season and a strongly international community. Nearby markets include Kutchan, Niseko, Hirafu and Higashiyama, plus Rusutsu over the pass. Sapporo is the big city, a few hours by road or bus, and a different market.
Foreigners can own land and buildings outright in Japan with no residency requirement, although some sensitive areas require notification. Costs include agent fees (up to 3% plus a fixed sum and consumption tax), registration tax, acquisition tax and annual fixed-asset tax. Japanese banks rarely lend to non-residents, so plan for cash. A local judicial scrivener handles registration. Our Japan guide and financing page go further.
Niseko receives very heavy snow, so building design, roof loads and driveway access matter. Ask your agent about zoning, building coverage limits and whether the plot has water, sewer or a septic requirement. Many resort properties are managed by local companies for rental income; ask about management contracts and their fees. A Japanese-speaking judicial scrivener can handle title registration.

A few hours by road, so it is a separate market.
