Where bedroom counts are given, the sample points to larger homes: five listings with three bedrooms and three with four, plus one single-bedroom home. Many properties are rural houses with gardens, vineyards or guesthouses. The category is not split by type in our data, so check each listing for house, land or commercial use.
For comparison with other regions, browse the Georgia country page.
Kvareli is known for the Kvareli Lake reserve, the Lopota area, historic wineries and the Alazani Valley. Telavi is the regional centre about half an hour away, and Tbilisi is roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road. Winter can be cold at altitude, and distances between services are longer than in the city.
Nearby places to compare: Telavi, Tsinandali, Gurjaani, Signagi, Sagarejo and Tianeti. Signagi is a tourist town on a hill, while Tianeti lies on the other side of the mountains.
Wine-region property pays in lifestyle: the value is in the land, the views and the harvest, not in rapid resale.
Foreigners can buy houses and non-agricultural land in Georgia, but agricultural land is restricted for foreign owners. Check the land category on the public register. Registration is done at the Public Service Hall and costs are modest; there is no general transfer tax (approx.; verify locally). Annual property tax for individuals is low, up to about 1% of value, depending on income. A property purchase of $150,000 or more qualifies for a residence route from 1 March 2026.
