Apartments number 318, villas 49, houses 48, penthouses 8, studios 7, land 3 and commercial 2. Three-bedroom homes (112) and two-bedroom (99) are common, with 72 four-bedroom homes, 16 one-bedroom and 126 tagged 5+, which may reflect room counts. The compact 85 m² median is a reminder that this is a flat-led coastal market. See Italian studio listings and penthouses.
Imperia is the union of Porto Maurizio, the hilltop old town above a port, and Oneglia, the flatter commercial half, along with surrounding hill villages. The coast is known for olive groves and the Taggiasca olive. Nice and Monaco are within reach by train, Genoa is about two hours, and the Riviera coast road and rail line run along the shore. Much of the stock is in older buildings without lifts or parking, so check the floor. Coastal prices climb toward Sanremo, while inland villages are cheaper but quiet in winter. Compare Aosta and Rome for different Italian lifestyles.
You need an Italian tax code, a notary and usually a bank account. The proposal and preliminary contract set a deposit, and the deed follows. Registration tax depends on whether the home is a primary residence, and you also pay notary, agency and cadastral fees. Condominium assemblies decide on shared building works, so ask about approved or planned expenses. Older Ligurian buildings may need structural and damp work. Rules for non-EU buyers can include reciprocity. See the Italy guide and the mortgage page.
On the Riviera, ask what the condominium has approved to spend before you sign.
Summer lets work, but tourist seasons are short and winter demand is weak outside the main towns.

Yes. The border at Ventimiglia is about 45 minutes away by road.
Narrow coastal terrain and older town centres favour flats over detached villas.
Many older buildings do not, so check floor level and parking.
Some Italian banks lend, usually with a larger deposit.
