Buyer's guide: Vordingborg
Vordingborg is a historic town in South Zealand, Denmark, with 67 listings on RealEstateAbroad and a median asking price of €210,733. It is one of the cheaper parts of Zealand, within reach of Copenhagen only by a long commute.

Villas make up 46 of the 67, houses 16, land three and apartments two. Bedrooms: four two-bed, 14 three-bed, 21 four-bed and 27 with five or more. Larger family houses dominate, a good value proposition at this price per m². With 27 listings of five or more bedrooms, many of these are older farmhouses and post-war family villas that could be converted or split, but they usually need energy upgrades. Ask for the tilstandsrapport (condition report) and energy label, and look for oil heating, which is being phased out in Denmark and can be costly to replace.
The lower quartile at €149,855 suggests older, smaller or more remote properties, and the upper quartile at €293,689 captures renovated homes or coastal plots with sea views. Because prices are so low compared with the Copenhagen region, investors should consider whether a rental is realistic locally before assuming an easy yield.

The municipality includes the old town, with the Gåsetårnet (Goose Tower) ruin, plus Møn, Bogø and Masnedø, and the coast of the Baltic. Møns Klint's chalk cliffs are a draw for nature lovers. Trains run to Copenhagen, but the journey is long, so most buyers are retirees, remote workers or people working locally. The Storstrøm Bridge and the motorway to Copenhagen cut road journeys, but a regular office commute would still be long. Schools, a hospital in Nykøbing Falster and a handful of shops mean everyday needs are met, although you should expect to drive.
Neighbouring markets: Næstved, Nykøbing F, Rødby, Haslev, Ringsted and Væggerløse.
Non-residents normally need Ministry of Justice permission to buy, and holiday homes are hardest to get approved. A Danish lawyer helps with the application. Read our Denmark buying guide, financing page and Denmark overview.

It is in South Zealand, far enough to make daily commuting long.
Rural South Zealand has less demand than the capital region.
