The sample holds 72 apartments, 6 houses and 5 plots of land. Bedroom counts: 29 one-bedroom, 28 two-bedroom, 10 studios, 4 four-bedroom, 4 five-plus and 3 three-bedroom. Small units explain the modest median size. In New York, apartments are either condominiums, where you own the unit, or co-ops, where you buy shares and a board approves you; condos are usually easier for overseas buyers. See US apartment and house pages.
The borough includes diverse districts from Forest Hills and Rego Park to Jamaica and the Rockaways side. Subway, bus and rail connections reach Manhattan, and JFK and LaGuardia airports sit within the borough. Monthly costs matter: co-op maintenance fees, condo common charges and property tax abatements can alter the real cost of ownership more than the price suggests.
There is no general bar on foreign buyers. Condos are common for non-residents because they allow financing and renting more easily; co-ops can restrict both and require board interviews and financial disclosure. Mortgages for foreign nationals exist but require larger deposits. New York has transfer taxes and a mansion tax on high-priced homes, and FIRPTA withholding applies to sales by foreign owners. See our US buying guide and US financing guide.
Other Queens areas listed: Forest Hills, Rego Park, Jamaica, Ozone Park, South Ozone Park and Howard Beach. See the United States overview.
