Apartments in Latvia
Apartments for sale in Latvia make up 1,100 of the 1,900 Latvian listings in our database, so flats dominate the market. They come in three very different flavours: ornate pre-war buildings, Soviet-era panel blocks and modern developments, and the right choice depends heavily on budget and plans.
For all property types, current listings on RealEstateAbroad show a median asking price of €209,000, a middle half of €110,000 to €364,750, and a median of €2,071 per m². Apartments in older panel blocks in suburban districts often cost well below that; renovated Art Nouveau flats in central Rīga cost well above.

Rīga holds most of the stock, with the Centre and Quiet Centre prized for architecture. Jūrmala is the seaside resort, popular for summer apartments close to the dunes. Liepāja is a port city with cheaper flats and a growing creative scene, and Mārupe next to the airport has family-oriented new developments. If you prefer a garden, see Latvian houses.
Ask for the building's energy certificate and the management company's accounts.
Purchases are completed before a notary and registered in the Land Book, with state duty at roughly 2% of the price, plus notary and registry fees (approx., verify locally). Non-EU buyers should check current rules for residency permits linked to property, which have been tightened for some nationalities. Our Latvia financing guide and consultation page explain more, and the Latvia overview gives context.
